Eric's Birthday Buttons

These are 5 pins that I made up for my brother Eric's birthday which was in February. I also included a CD of a cassette tape I transferred of a recording of our first band called Dethlehem.

These are images taken from "Scary Stories To Tell In The Dark", which is a trilogy of young adult books with many cryptic tales and chilling, gruesome images. It was written by Alvin Schwartz and drawn by Stephen Gammell. I have the Harper Trophy edition paperbacks of part one and two of the trilogy (which are beaten to hell). There was eventually an all in one hardcover edition that included each book. Later, to much controversy, another version was released with new artwork by Brett Helquist . The site, Adventures In Bad Taste, did a side by side comparison of the both artworks.

I'm not sure where this term originates, but the first time I saw it was probably on the cover of the Oblivians, "Popular Favorites":

This is a drawing from the inner sleeve of "Screaming With The Deadguy Quintet EP", by Deadguy. You can listen to it here. The artwork is really neat. I like a good Woody Woodpecker parody.

Finally, this is taken from one of the many "Reform School Girls" posters. That's Wendy O. Williams towards the front. I still haven't seen this movie. I added my own text to the front.

Audio Junkie

Audio Junkie is a Miami based video series of mostly local bands by brothers Greg and Eddy Alvarez. Musicians themselves, they also play in a surf band called the Jellyfish Brothers who I also lucky enough to make pins for (entry coming soon!). For both orders, I was basically told to go crazy with color and do whatever I wanted. I ended up making 11 different variations. The logo was created by Ronnie Rivera from bleedingpalm.com:
Here's the 11 different colored pins I made:
