Audio Junkie

Audio Junkie is a Miami based video series of mostly local bands by brothers Greg and Eddy Alvarez. Musicians themselves, they also play in a surf band called the Jellyfish Brothers who I also lucky enough to make pins for (entry coming soon!). For both orders, I was basically told to go crazy with color and do whatever I wanted. I ended up making 11 different variations. The logo was created by Ronnie Rivera from bleedingpalm.com:

Beach Day

Beach Day is a great fuzzed out surfy pop band from Hollywood, Florida. My band, Hot Hands played a show with them in Holiday Florida at Orbit 19 Lounge. There's 3 members: Kimmy, Natalie and Skyler. We knew Skyler from The Black Rabbits which was a band he played drums for with this brother Jetson. Kimmy and Natalie also played in that band in one of the later lineups before changing members around due to The Black Rabbits' (or really Jetson's) relocation to North Carolina. Natalie also plays in a band called The New.

Make sure you get a pin from them next time they play!

This one uses a picture by Ben Guzman that I brightened and used BN Machine font with a yellow bar using an Exclusion filter (I think). 

          

This is from an early 1980's comedy called "The Beach Girls". I've never seen it but it was ideal to find a beach related picture with two girls and a guy. The font is called Kool Beans. 

Norse Korea

Norse Korea is a booking company here in Orlando that's headed by Kyle Raker and Bradley Ryan. They put on shows in town, bringing in their favorite bands while utilizing the skills of local artists to create their flyers and posters. 

After a few ideas thrown around, we agreed on the above image for use in their promotional buttons that I made for them. The rabbit head is I believe their stamp design, which I flipped around because of the direction of the text since your eyes read left to right. I used a font called Atarian System for their name. 

Be sure to bug them at their shows for some pins to support what they're doing.

I tried replacing the font, but it still didn't take up all of the 1 inch space and may have been hard to read. 

Wet Nurse

Here's the last order of pins I made for Orlando Florida cuties, Wet Nurse. They're a great band with a ridiculous amount of energy and songs so infectious, its almost nauseating. Be sure to bug them for one of these pins next time you see them!

Okay, so here's the bonus pins (there's just one of each) that I threw in. Mostly, they're the obvious "twin" and "nurse" references. I figured "Why not?".

This first one is based of their split 45 (with Lazy Boyzzz). The cover art is done by Ben Lyon. I cut out the nurse and edited the milk shooting out. I also used a different font. Strangely, the actual print out of this is a much darker blue.

This is the Spanish version of the movie poster for "Sisters". Its an insane movie directed by Brian De Palma and stars Margot Kidder. 

The American title of this 1960s spaghetti western is "Sharp Shooting Sisters".

"Eating Raoul" is such a fun, goofy movie. I can't remember when I first saw it. It's a shame that the DVD has zero extras. I would like to know more information about this movie. 

Paul Bartel (R.I.P.) is the star of this show, starring, directing and writing the film. His partner in crime is the always likable, Mary Woronov, who's best known as Miss Togar in "Rock'n'Roll High School" and she also was in some Andy Warhol projects in the 1960s. I love her clothes in this movie. This is Robert Beltran's second movie (even though, I think he's credited as "introducing"). You might be know him best from the "Star Trek: Voyager" series. I know I didn't though because I never watched that show. 

"Eating Raoul" was eventually turned into a musical. Hmmm.. I'm not sure what to make of that. The plot is about the Blands, a couple who wants to open their own restaurant. They can't afford the building they want, so they lure swingers to their apartment, hit them over the head with a frying pan and then rob them. Its funnier than it sounds.

Ah, "Easy Money". I've never seen this. Its on Instant on Netflix, so I'll have to take a look. It has Rodney Dangerfield (of course) that's a good reason to check it out. 

I had to laugh at the scene in "Lost In America" where Albert Brooks is trying to find a job at the employment office. He asks the clerk, "Have you seen 'Easy Rider'?" and the clerk responds with "No, but I've seen 'Easy Money'". 

I altered the poster a little bit to create the pin design. I erased the text on his forehead and replaced it with the title. I put a white stroke outline on the title also. It almost looks like he's staring at the title stuck to his forehead,
